Title: A bill for an ordinance submitting to a vote of the qualified and registered electors of the City and County of Denver at a special municipal election to be held in conjunction with the coordinated election of November 5, 2019, a proposed amendment to the Charter of the City and County of Denver creating the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure. This bill will refer to the November 5th, 2019 ballot the question to create the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure and shall create within the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure the Division of Public Works.

                     Our city continues to experience unprecedented growth and the demand for multimodal options is increasing. Responding to this changing environment is now an imperative to keep our streets and infrastructure adaptive to changing preferences and align city’s organizational systems and relationships the next generation of Denver’s transportation and mobility system. The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) will have a clear commitment to mobility and will also continue to provide excellent services through our Solid Waste and Wastewater Management functions. The two entities will together become a new Division of Public Works within DOTI to provide these essential functions.  Keeping these operations under the umbrella of the broader transportation and infrastructure department will ensure efficient coordination and integration of these services so that DOTI can leverage every investment towards the vision for a better Denver.
