Type and Scope of services to be performed:

The Federal & Amherst Ave [HAWK] Project (High-Intensity Activated CrossWalk beacon) - HAWK Signal project is to construct one (1) HAWK traffic signal within the City and County of Denver, MP 5.1, SH88. The scope of this project will be to install new traffic signal equipment - poles, signal and pedestrian indications, controller and cabinet, pull boxes, all associated equipment, and concrete sidewalk in accordance with the City and County of Denver standards. These include signal indications on every lane, 16” countdown pedestrian faces, Ethernet controllers and switches, and UPS. ADA handicap ramp, curb and gutter, and sidewalk will also be upgraded and installed at all locations to meet ADA and City and County of Denver standards. Scope of  work also include new pedestrian crosswalks and stop bars in accordance to Denver standards. No geometric changes will be made to the intersection layouts.

 

There may be right of way acquisition.  There is no known environmental impacts/disturbances.

 

The City and County of Denver, Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) will perform both design and construction of the HAWK traffic signals, removal of existing span wire traffic signal equipment, and also the  ADA ramps, sidewalk, curb return, curb and gutter, and any storm sewer works if necessary. A design consultant will be contracted by DOTI to perform the detail HAWK  traffic  signal,  signs  and  striping, roadway and civil infrastructure  designs.  DOTI  will  contract  a  certified  signal  and  roadway  (civil)  contractor  to reconstruct the traffic signals and any roadway/civil upgrade. PWT staff will oversee the design and perform construction management.
