Type and Scope of services to be performed:

Denver opened auxiliary shelters in April 2020 to help provide appropriate spacing, medical triage and other supports for people experiencing homelessness as part of the city’s overall response during the COVID-19 emergency. These auxiliary shelters historically, have provided support for up to 765 men at the National Western Complex and 300 women at the Denver Coliseum overnight. Currently, auxiliary shelter services are being provided out of the Denver Coliseum for men.  Auxiliary shelters are available 24/7 and typically serve up to several hundred additional guests during the day who are accessing food and services.

These shelters provide relief for existing shelters that were not previously able to meet CDC guidance for spacing to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. Guests at the shelters are provided medical services through the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, support through partner service provider agencies such as the Denver Rescue Mission and Catholic Charities. This contract with KM Concessions provides support for food, snacks, and beverages at the Denver Coliseum, ensuring that there are meals for all individuals utilizing the auxiliary shelter services each day. The contract supports food service at the auxiliary shelters through December 3, 2021.
