Amends Ordinance No. 591, Series of 2021, previously amended by Ordinance No. 706, Series of 2021, to allocate $8,800,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds in the “Premium Pay” spending category to provide a premium pay benefit to eligible City employees to compensate employees required to work in higher risk occupations due to the possible COVID-19 exposure. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 10-5-21.

Between March and Dec. 2020, before the widespread availability of vaccines, career service and uniformed City and County of Denver employees routinely risked exposure to COVID-19 to ensure the delivery of critical services to residents. The American Rescue Plan Act allows for the use of funds to compensate employees required to work in higher risk occupations due to the possible COVID-19 exposure.
This bill request authorizes an allocation of $8,800,000 in the American Rescue Plan Act Grant Fund, Fund No. 11011, for the purpose of providing a Premium Pay benefit for eligible non-uniform employees. Payments to uniform employees will be supported by CARES dollars.
