As required by the Colorado Revised Statutes (CRS), this request seeks City Council approval to extend the disaster declaration first issued by Mayor Michael B. Hancock on March 12, 2020 and currently running through July 25, 2022 for an additional period through August 29, 2022. The effects of COVID-19, including the loss of life, continue to require emergency action and resources to avert danger or damage and to protect public health. Under CRS ?24-33.5-709(1), the effect of the period of local disaster cannot exceed seven days except by or with the approval of City Council.
