Importance:                            High

Honorable Councilmembers:

On behalf of National Jewish Health, we look forward to our public hearing this evening on the rezoning of the former Gove School.  We have worked diligently with the Colorado Boulevard Healthcare District (CBHD) over the last eight months on this rezoning application.  We first initiated a CBHD Gove School Sum-Committee made up of all the neighborhood organizations involved in the CBHD to determine the correct zoning for the site.  The Sub-Committee overwhelmingly approved our application (6-1 vote).  Secondly, we presented the zoning application to the CBHD on four different occasions.  The CBHD voted 12-1 to support the rezoning application that will be presented this evening.  Although contained in one letter—this is the ultimate vote of support as the CBHD contains the following members:

1.       Cranmer Park Hilltop Civic Association

2.       The Fax Partnership

3.       CHUN

4.       Mayfair Neighbors

5.       Congress Park

6.       Bellevue Hale Neighborhood Association

7.       National Jewish Health

8.       Rose Hospital

9.       University Hospital

10.   CU Denver

11.   Sembler Company

12.   Mental Health Center of Denver

13.   Veteran’s Hospital

I have attached the following letters of support to this email:

1.       CBHD Letter of support for Gove School Rezoning (members listed above)

2.       CBHD Letter of support for Harrison Street Lot

3.       National Jewish Health Board of Directors Letter concerning rezoning

4.       DPS Letter of Support for Gove Rezoning

5.       Bellevue Hale Neighborhood letter of support for National Jewish Health to purchase the Gove School site (2008)

Additionally, we are bringing packets and many additional letters of support to the council offices.  We have approximately 20 letters of support and over 100 signatures on a petition in support of the rezoning.  Again, we look forward to seeing you tonight and we respectfully request your support.
