A resolution approving and providing for the execution of a proposed Grant Agreement between the City and County of Denver and the Caring for Denver Foundation concerning the “Expanded Mobile Integrated Health Care” program and the funding therefor.
Approves a grant agreement with Caring for Denver Foundation for $1,098,408 and through 5-31-24 to fund expanded mobile integrated health care (the Wellness Winnie) including mental health care, substance use treatment and peer support in underserved areas of Denver, citywide (ENVHL-202159302). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 8-23-21. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 7-21-21.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
The Expanded Mobile Integrated Health Care in Underserved Areas of Denver Aboard Wellness Winnie project is a three-year grant to provide mobile mental health care, substance use treatment, and peer support in underserved areas of Denver and overdose education and naloxone distribution through peer networks. The funding will enable the city to contract with a medical/behavioral health provider consisting of a physician/nurse practitioner who can prescribe medication-assisted treatment, a psychiatric nurse, and a peer navigator.
Overdose education and naloxone distribution through peer networks: this will fund community-based organizations to provide technical and financial assistance to people who use their services (peers) to go out and provide overdose education and give naloxone to people who use substances. The community organization will train and supervise the peer, manage the reporting and paperwork and pay the peer a stipend.
