Caring For Denver Foundation

 

Type and Scope of services to be performed:

                     Caring for Denver Foundation, as the spending agency for the Caring for Denver tax, will continue to facilitate the grantmaking process to award funds for: mental health services and treatment for children and adults; suicide prevention programs; opioid and substance use disorder prevention, treatment and recovery programs; housing and case management services to reduce homelessness, improve long-term recovery, and reduce the costly use of jails and emergency rooms for those with mental health and substance use disorder needs. With at least 10% of Caring for Denver tax revenue in any year directed to the City and County of Denver for the following: funding for a facility and staffing to create alternatives to jail for people with mental health and/or substance use disorder needs; fully funding a co-responder program for mental health experts to ride along with Denver police; training for first responders, including paramedics and fire response, on how to properly assess and handle people with mental health and/or substance use disorder needs.

                     DDPHE review of Caring for Denver annual report, strategic plan, and community input process

                     DDPHE review of Caring for Denver’s grant and financial policies

                     DDPHE review and processing of monthly invoices for payments out of the Caring for Denver fund

                     DDPHE facilitation of revenue-to-budget reconciliation process between Caring for Denver and City’s Department of Finance

                     Caring for Denver continues to use no more than 5% of the Caring for Denver tax revenue for administrative expenses

                     DDPHE retains $125,000 of the Caring for Denver tax for City administrative expenses, including the salary of the CFD Liaison (Caring for Denver Administrator)
