Approves a grant agreement with Mile High Squash, doing business as Mile High 360, for $971,641 and through 12-31-2025, as part of the city’s Healthy Food for Denver’s Kid’s Initiative to provide their students aged 18-years and younger, daily access to nutritious and culturally responsive food, food systems, such as gardens, and education around healthy eating, located in Council District 3 (ENVHL-202368596). Type and Scope of services to be performed:
Mile High 360 will provide all of its students aged 18-years and under with daily access to nutritious and culturally responsive food, thereby attending to Priority Area 1. Not only that, but Mile High 360 students will have organized access to the systems and procedures used to source that food, build caloric profiles, and prepare the food that they eat. Using its Family Liaison, funded by HFDK Cohort 1, and nutritional experts, Mile High 360 will build educational units with their students and families to develop the knowledge and habits that lead to positive, long-term changes around healthy eating, the construction of healthy eating environments and food skills for children and their families. Finally, working with a farm/garden expert, Mile High 360 will run its own garden plots to grow food that is identified as “valuable” by its own families.
