A resolution approving and providing for the execution of a proposed Grant Agreement between the City and County of Denver and the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, concerning the “Community-Based Violence Intervention Grant” program and the funding therefor.
Approves a grant with the United State Department of Justice in the amount of $799,000 for a term ending on 12-31-2026 to support community-based violence interruption programming and strategies for high-risk youth and adults, citywide. The project seeks to significantly reduce acts of community violence (gang, firearms, bullying, human-trafficking, sexual assault, inter-personal violence, etc.) in targeted communities by uncovering and interrupting conflicts, connecting with, and supporting the highest risk individuals, and changing social norms in partnership with Community Representatives who have relationships and reflect the culture of the targeted community.
