A resolution approving and providing for the execution of a proposed Grant Agreement between the City and County of Denver and the United States Department of Homeland Security concerning the “Assistance to Firefighters Grant” program and the funding therefor.
Approves a grant agreement with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for $864,550 and through 8-29-2024 for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant to purchase hydraulic equipment typically used to extricate people trapped in damaged vehicles, citywide (FIRES-202264670). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 10-17-2022. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 9-14-2022.

The Denver Fire Department applied and received a FEMA Fiscal Year 2021 Assistance to Firefighters $785,954.54 Grant to purchase vehicle extrication equipment. The grant requires a minimum 10% City match of $78,595.46 for a total approved budget of $864,550.00. The current grant budget period is 8/30/2022 to 8/29/2024.
This competitive grant will assist in the procurement of hydraulic vehicle extrication equipment including rams, cutters and spreaders. Typically, this equipment is utilized during emergency responses to extricate trapped occupants from vehicles damaged in traffic accidents.
