Type and Scope of services to be performed:

The Denver Police Department is continuing its successful co-responder program.  Previously, this was a Crime Prevention and Control Commission (CPCC) funded agreement that was transferred to the Police General Fund budget as part of the 2023 budget.  This amendment increases the funding and duration of the program with Mental Health Center of Denver, d/b/a/ WellPower, that pairs mental health clinicians with police officers and focuses on responding to calls for service involving individuals with suspected or known mental health needs.

The Crisis Intervention Response Unit will assist Denver Police Department in determining the best response to persons they encounter who are presenting with possible mental health or other behavioral concerns if a law enforcement intervention is not immediately warranted. The program is intended to provide proactive care to ensure that appropriate interventions are made for persons with behavioral health issues to improve the lives of the community of the City and County of Denver, streamline services, and create system efficiencies.
