A resolution approving a proposed Second Amendatory Agreement between the City and County of Denver and The Urban Farm for apprenticeships, experiential education, including intergenerational family workshops, youth fieldtrips, after-school programming and summer camps on urban gardening and farming.
Amends a grant agreement with The Urban Farm by adding $135,191 for a new total of $522,180 and one year for a new end date of 7-31-2023, through funding from the Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids Initiative, for apprenticeships, experiential education, including intergenerational family workshops, youth fieldtrips, after-school programming and summer camps on urban gardening and farming at 10200 Smith Road in Council District 8 (ENVHL- 202055282-00/ ENVHL-202264173). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 11-7-2022. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 9-21-2022.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
The Urban Farm will continue to provide 2-3 apprentice farmers with on-farm training and experiential education in soil-based and hydroponic farming techniques, focusing on sustainable and organic growing practices, provide intergenerational family workshops on urban gardening and farming (a minimum of 6) with a focus on container planting, pest and disease management, soil health, season extension, farm-to-table cooking, and farm-based youth education at the Urban Grown Incubator Farm will be delivered through fieldtrips, after-school programming, and summer camps.
