Affected Council District(s) or citywide? Council District 9

Contract Control Number: PWADM-201951213

Vendor/Contractor Name (including any “DBA”): Denver Water

Type and Scope of services to be performed:

Denver Water owns and operates a recycled water system that serves many venues, parks and campuses throughout Denver. The NWC Master Plan, adopted in 2015, recommended that the campus “Embrace an Ethic of Regeneration,” and this is reflected in a NWC Capital Build Program (Program) goal to minimize potable water use at the NWC. The construction of a recycled water main within the NWC campus helps the Program to meet this goal and enables Denver Water to connect their recycled water system to new sources of demand. The pipeline will be designed and constructed to Denver Water standards.

To facilitate the design and construction of infrastructure work, the City will procure the design of the project under the NWC’s existing horizontal infrastructure design contract and procure the construction of the project under the existing horizontal integrated construction (HIC) contract.

As a companion to this ordinance, an appropriated, non-lapsing capital project fund will be created to allow the City to accept and expend the $2,600,000 contribution from Denver Water to complete this work. The new fund is 38429.

Design and construct a new recycled water main within the National Western Center utility corridors.

A 6-inch or 8-inch main will extend south from the intersection of Franklin and Race Court to Bettie Cram Drive within the new National Western Drive right-of-way.

A 6-inch main will extend from the new National Western Drive (north of the new Equestrian Center), along the central utility corridor, across Bettie Cram Drive, and a 4-inch pipe will continue south within existing National Western Drive right-of-way to approximately 4700 National Western Drive.

A 4-inch main will extend from the intersection of existing National Western Drive and Bettie Cram Drive east to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad corridor to enable connection to future phases of NWC development.
