Sets a public hearing before City Council for 08-28-17 on the formation and establishment of the citywide Denver Tourism Improvement District (TID). The Committee approved filing this resolution by consent on 8-1-17.

The Denver Revised Municipal Code requires a public hearing be conducted prior to City Council approving the creation of a Tourism Improvement District. The hearing is scheduled for August 28, 2017. If created, the Denver Tourism Improvement District will support enhanced tourism marketing citywide and capital improvements to the Colorado Convention Center.
Tourism Improvement Districts have the power to levy taxes, fees or assessments on lodging businesses (with 50 or more rooms), or upon persons purchasing lodging, to fund tourism improvements and services.
