Approves a grant agreement with Sprout City Farms for $1,054,788 and through 12-31-2025, through the Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids Initiative, to provide no-cost food access for 60-95 families through 18 weeks of farm shares from the Community Supported Agriculture program in combination with food system education focused on Council Districts 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 (ENVHL-202368713). Sprout City Farms
Type and Scope of services to be performed:
Sprout City Farms will support no-cost food access shares (weekly CSA for 18 weeks of the farm season) for SNAP and WIC recipients, as well as "Solidarity" shares for families experiencing food insecurity but may not qualify for these benefits. SCF, in partnership with Ekar Farm, will provide 60-95 no-cost weekly shares of food to Denver residents with children through our annual 18-week Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program from June through October. SCF will continue our collaboration with Denver Health’s nearby Lowry Clinic to match our program with WIC-enrolled refugee families experiencing food insecurity.
