A resolution appointing Director to fill vacancy on the Alameda Station Metropolitan District Court of Directors.

body
Affected Council District(s) or citywide? Council District 7
Executive Summary with Rationale and Impact:
The Alameda Station Metropolitan District (“Metro District”) was created in 2009 by a developer who was unsuccessful in purchasing the RTD Bus Barn site. The Metro District has been on statutory inactive status for many years, has no outstanding obligations, and all board positions are vacant.
Currently, RTD has entered into a new purchase agreement with a different development team. It is the same development team working on Broadway Market Place and Denver Design District located near Broadway and Alameda. It has been determined by the development team the Metro District will not be utilized in the redevelopment at the RTD Bus Barn site, yet will be of use at the Denver Design District site. Considering infrastructure plans are still being finalized and the same development team will have ownership of both the RTD Bus Barn and the Denver Design District sites, the following are City Council actions to move the Metro District to the Denver Design District site:
Current Pending Actions
1) This resolution to appoint Daniel M. Cohen of the development team to the board of directors of the District as all positions are currently vacant. Statutes provide for the organizing municipality under these conditions to appoint vacant board positions.
2) An ordinance to approve adding a parcel of land in the Additional Inclusion Area located at the Denver Design District. The concept of Additional Inclusion Area is authorized in the Service Plan with the approvals of City Council, Manager of Public Works and Manager of Finance.
Actions Later This Year
1) An ordinance approving a Service Plan amendment incorporating the new infrastructure plan for the Denver Design District.
