A resolution approving a proposed Amendatory Agreement between the City and County of Denver and Denver Food Rescue to provide healthy, nutritious meals to youth through food boxes at multiple locations.
Amends a grant agreement with Denver Food Rescue by adding $375,051 for a new contract total of $626,744 and one year for a new end date of 7-31-2023, through funding from the Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids Initiative, to provide healthy, nutritious meals to youth through food boxes at multiple locations, citywide (ENVHL- 202159284-00/ ENVHL-202263897). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 10-24-2022. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 9-21-2022.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
Denver Food Rescue will continue to deliver food boxes to families in Denver, through their Healthy Choice Food Box Program, and online courses for cooking demonstrations and nutrition education. Denver Food Rescue provides a new free delivery program. This program, Healthy Choice Food Box, has been able to deliver fresh monthly produce from East Denver Food Hub to 300 families throughout Denver. Each month families have the option to choose foods that are culturally relevant. The next year of the program is expected to grow to 600 families.
This agreement is being amended for the first time to extend the grant for a second year. There is another agreement before council from Denver Food Rescue but because the scopes of work are different, and for billing purposes, the agreements are separate.
