A resolution approving and providing for the execution of a proposed Grant Agreement between the City and County of Denver and the United States Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration concerning the “RAISE Grant; Washington Street Livability Project” program and the funding therefor.
Approves a grant from the Federal Highway Administration for $33,061,222 to fund the Washington Street Livability project that will improve the road, sidewalk, and infrastructure along Washington Street between 47th Avenue and 52nd Avenue, in Council District 9. 202369923. The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 11-20-2023. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 10-17-2023.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
This project includes brand new multi-use sidewalks that will be 10 ft to 12 ft depending on where they fit on the corridor, 8 feet of amenity zone space maintained by our Green Infrastructure team to provide both green space and storm water drainage facilities and the project is adding 8 feet of parking space where it fits along the corridor. New street with total reconstruction and replacing the railroad crossing with upgraded signal and safety infrastructure will be included.
There will be up to 23 feet of Right-of-Way space acquired, but most sections have significantly less. There are no total takes or relocations required through this effort. The new road design was created to maximize the space available on the street while minimizing impacts to the businesses. There will be 2 new signal rebuilds as well as undergrounding all the utilities along the corridor. All intersections will be constructed to continue to allow for the larger trucks that the industry in the area currently utilizes.
