Type and Scope of services to be performed:

Saab Colorado, Inc will provide continued hardware, software licensing, maintenance and support services for their proprietary Aerobahn airfield management system. The contractor provides a browser-based surface management system to combine operational information with ground radar-like data for a comprehensive view of aircraft activity which allows Denver International Airport (DEN) to manage everything from gate conflicts and passenger misconnections to pre-departure sequences and taxi routes.  This system is critical and necessary to airport operations and to the safety of airport users and the travelling public.  In addition to providing real-time tools for managing surface operations, the Aerobahn management system records aircraft and vehicle movements to support investigation and analyses of critical events, such as incidents and periods of heavy congestion.  Aerobahn management system also allows us to monitor and manage our deice operations and provides valuable metrics for the airport.

Was this contractor selected by competitive process or sole source? ? No                     This procurement qualifies for exception under Memoradum No. 8B and will not be competitively procured.   DEN currently uses the Aerobahn system, including hardware and licensed software, and the system in critical and necessary to airport operations.  This contract provides continuity of operations of the proprietary system.  As stated above, the hardware and software is proprietary, and Saab owns the intellectual property that allows them to offer the system to end users.  There are no other vendors who provide support, licenses, or equipment.
