Type and Scope of services to be performed:

The Alameda Avenue (SH 26B) corridor between Eliot Street and Pecos Street, is a four-lane roadway divided by a two-way left-turn lane. This corridor exhibits a significant crash history involving sideswipe and broadside conflicts between turning vehicles at both signalized and unsignalized locations. There is also a significant need for additional pedestrian safety and mobility improvements in the area.

The HSIP - Alameda Avenue Vision Zero Safety Project will utilize the CDOT Grant funding to design and construct various roadway improvements along the corridor from Eliot Street to Pecos Street. These improvements will include construction of raised-curb medians between Eliot Street and Zuni Street and between Tejon Street and Pecos Street. These medians will provide specific movement restrictions, prohibiting left-turns and through movements from the side-streets but allowing specific left-turns from Alameda Avenue at Decatur St, Dale St, Bryant St and Alcott St. In addition, a bulb-out curb extension will be constructed for the Alameda Ave. and Yuma Street intersection to reduce the pedestrian crossing distance and improve the signal phasing and coordination.

Funding for the design and construction of these improvements is from the Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (90% Federal Funds, 10% State Funds). The City and County of Denver is responsible for covering design and construction costs that exceed the HSIP amount awarded.
