A resolution approving a proposed second Amendment between the City and County of Denver and Hensel Phelps Construction Co. concerning on-call construction projects at Denver International Airport. Amends a contract with Hensel Phelps Construction Company by adding $640,000 for a new total of $27,640,000 for on-call general construction facility projects and anticipated modernization and improvement plans, at Denver International Airport. No change to contract duration (201627953-02). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 11-5-18. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 10-10-2018.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
This is a second amendment to an existing contract (201627953) with Hensel Phelps Construction Company (Hensel Phelps). The request is to increase the contract amount by $640,000.00. There is no request to extend the term of the contract. The contract being amended is for a general contractor to provide on-call construction services for the existing term. The scope of work includes all types of construction both inside and outside of the airport facilities. Projects vary from general remodels to specific tasks and also include exterior construction activities both airside and landside as the airport’s immediate needs warrant. The current amendment will allow Hensel Phelps to complete existing work tasks that are within the original scope of work.
Under this contract, Hensel Phelps has been issued task orders that now total $27,640,000 capacity. The work that has been assigned includes:
- Structural repairs in the Parking Garage Electrical Rooms
- Construction of Gates B11 and B14
- Repairs to the FedEx Fuel Vaults
- A remodel of the 9th Floor in the Airport Office Building
- Repairs to the Level 5 Canopy and Fire Sprinkler System
- Installation of the Hotel and Transit Center (HTC) Bus Waiting Area Heaters
- Finishes and exterior ground support construction at the A-East Ground Load Facility
- Relocation of the jet fuel line for the A-East Ground Load Facility
The last of the projects above that are contracted with Hensel Phelps Construction are more than halfway completed. This amendment would allow current remaining projects to finish.
