Executive Summary with Rationale and Impact:
As required by the Colorado Revised Statutes (CRS), this request seeks City Council approval to extend the disaster declaration first issued by Mayor Mike Johnston on July 18, 2023, and currently running through Monday, August 21,2023, for an additional period through September 18, 2023, as related to people experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Under CRS ?24-33.5-709(1), the effect of the period of local disaster cannot exceed seven days except by or with the approval of City Council.
