The City and County of Denver has in place a state of emergency regarding unsheltered residents, as initiated by Mayor Mike Johnston and approved by Denver City Council. The City's 2022 Point in Time Count (annual survey of the number of people experiencing homelessness) counted over 1,300 residents on a single night in January.
