Executive Summary with Rationale and Impact:
Detailed description of the item and why we are doing it. This can be a separate attachment.
The ordinance seeks to appropriate $730,000 in total to support the replacement of tennis courts that are currently out of service in Berkeley Lake Park and Eisenhower Park. It is requested that $250K be appropriated from the State Conservation Trust Fund contingency and $480K be appropriated from the Capital Improvement Fund contingency. The requested funding will be paired with $170K in appropriated funding in Parks and will address critical life/safety needs due to the condition of the tennis courts and allow for programming to resume. The Berkeley Lake Park courts 5-8 and Eisenhower Park courts 1-4 already have design completed and only require full funding to implement. If funding becomes available these courts can be contracted and constructed within the next 6-12 months.
This project meets the following justification for use of CIP contingency:
• Unanticipated serious health and/or safety hazard
• Unanticipated repair immediately necessary to maintain the integrity of the asset
• Scope of work that cannot be reduced
