A resolution approving and providing for the execution of a proposed contract between the City and County of Denver and the Great Outdoors Colorado Trust Fund (GOCO), concerning the "My Outdoor Colorado" project and the funding therefor.
Approves a grant agreement with Great Outdoors Colorado for $2.7 million and through 06-30-20 to support a Westwood Park nature play area and gardens, a Weir Gulch nature play area and outdoor classroom, gardening programs, afterschool programs, family workshops, expanded nature activities, youth stewardship, and other youth and family activities as part of the My Outdoor Colorado program in Council District 3 (201734480). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 6-12-17. The Committee approved filing this resolution by consent on 5-2-17.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
Grant funds will be used to support the Westwood Park nature play area and gardens; a Weir Gulch nature play area and outdoor classroom; a habitat program bringing nature into schoolyards; a mini-mountain bike skills course; a camping/staging area for Genesee Park’s Challenge Course; and programs including gardening programs, afterschool programs, family workshops, expanded nature activities, youth stewardship, outdoor adventures, environmental career exposure, internships, trail installations, and more. Parks & Recreation is partnering with several non-profit and community partners for these places, pathways, and programs, with roughly $1.2 million being passed-through to the partners.
