Contract Control Number: 201520647

Vendor/Contractor Name (including any “DBA”): U.S. Department of Labor

Type and Scope of services to be performed: Since Colorado was awarded a $6.2 million "Ready to Work Partnership” grant from the U.S. Department of Labor in October 2014, the Denver Office of Economic Development has served as the grant administrator for this regional, joint project. The grant benefits long-term unemployed and underemployed people in the technology and advanced manufacturing sectors on the Front Range and Western Slope in Colorado using collaborations between employers, educational institutions and job training programs.

The grant supports the Technology Employment in Colorado Partnership (TEC-P) project, a targeted industry sector initiative that is helping build and sustain the state’s information technology and advanced manufacturing sectors. The project is utilizing an industry- and employer-driven approach to develop an education and training career pathway, boosting employment in middle-skilled to high-skilled jobs.

The TEC-P partnership consists of several organizations, including the Colorado Urban Workforce Alliance; Workforce Investment Boards serving Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson, Larimer and Mesa counties; the Colorado Community College System and Western Colorado Community College; industry associations; employers within the IT and advanced manufacturing sectors; and additional training and other partners. This is a milestone regional effort to further develop Colorado's pipeline of talent by connecting nearly 600 long-term unemployed individuals with promising career paths in high-demand industries.

The proposed contract amendment does not affect the dollar amount of the grant, but simply extends by five months the grant end date, from October 31, 2018 to March 31, 2019.
