Vendor/Contractor Name (including any “DBA”): Denver Public Schools (DPS)

Type and Scope of services to be performed:

Denver Public Schools (DPS) is one of the City’s Designated Educational Access TV Providers, contracted to support the City’s Public, Education and Government (PEG) Access Television provider contract commitments as outlined in Section 9 of the Comcast and CenturyLink Cable Franchise Agreements.  Per the ongoing Intergovernmental agreement with DPS, the City would like to make capital PEG funds available to DPS to support an Educational Access TV station.  The funds are used to purchase video and audio capital equipment necessary for the production of Educational Access Television content and utilized for hands-on experience that educates and benefits students and our community.

The City’s current IGA with DPS provides the option to renew for an additional five-year period.  The City would like to renew since it would allow DPS to continue receiving funds throughout the duration of the Cable Franchise Agreements.  Based on projections DPS has put together for capital equipment and repair and maintenance needs for the next five years, the total dollar amount is sufficient and will not need to be increased.

DPS’ dedication and vision for the future growth of Educational Access Television content creation and technical training is shown through the strategic partnerships with Emily Griffith Technical College, successful student internships and Distance Learning content that airs on their channel.
