Approves a contract with Sturgeon Electric Company Inc. for $2,254,781.75 and for eight months to reconstruct five traffic signals within the South Colorado Boulevard corridor to enhance signal visibility and address safety issues, located at South Colorado Boulevard and Cherry Creek Drive North, East Ohio Avenue, East Iowa Avenue, East Florida Avenue and East Mexico Avenue in Council Districts 10 and 6 (201843268). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 4-1-19. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 12-25-18.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
SHE 2015: Colorado Blvd at Cherry Creek N/Virginia, Ohio, Florida, Iowa, and Mexico traffic traffic upgrade - is a Federally Funded CDOT Safety Traffic Signal Upgrade project. Purpose is to rebuild 5 traffic signals located in the South Colorado Blvd corridor to enhance signal visibility and address safety issues. The locations of these signals are at: Colorado Blvd at Cherry Creek Dr North/Virginia; Colorado Blvd at Ohio Ave; Colorado Blvd at Iowa Ave; Colorado Blvd at Florida Ave; & Colorado Blvd at Mexico Ave. The traffic signal upgrade design and construction scope of work is to remove the outdated and aging traffic signal and replace with a current CCD standard mast arm traffic signal with all new 12" signal indications, 16" countdown pedestrian faces, ATC controller with backup UPS, infrared red vehicle detection systems, emergency pre-emption system, close circuit TV traffic monitoring system, and Ethernet switch for communication. Other scope of work in this project include new concrete construction (i.e. ADA compliance curb ramps/curb returns, sidewalks, curb/gutter and storm sewer improvements), new sign package, and paint/pavement marking package for all 5 locations.
