Executive Summary with Rationale and Impact:

Detailed description of the item and why we are doing it. This can be a separate attachment.

With the passing of the I300 in 2016, only one business is in operation. Through interview with interested potential applicants and a careful study of maps showing the pacts of distance requirements, it is evident that the additional distance requirements are thwarting the intent of the voter-approved initiative by restricting available locations.

This bill will keep proximity restrictions from schools set at 1000 feet, reduce proximity restrictions childcare facilities, city-owned recreation centers and outdoor pools, and drug and alcohol treatment facilities to 500 feet.

This bill is more restrictive than liquor license distance requirements, does not eliminate Excise and License restrictions, opens an additional five square miles of eligibility.
