The purpose of the resolution is to set a public hearing to approve the East Colfax Corridor Urban Redevelopment Plan (“Plan”).
Approval of the Plan establishes an Urban Redevelopment Area to assist in the process of redevelopment of portions of Colfax Avenue between Monaco Parkway and Yosemite Street. The Plan establishes the framework for future City Council approval of public improvement projects and private redevelopment projects and the use of Property and/or Sale Tax increment (TIF) for those approved projects. The Denver Urban Renewal Authority (“DURA”), in coordination with the City’s Department of Finance and Department of Community Planning and Development, is seeking to establish an Urban Redevelopment Area to support redevelopment through the approval of the Plan.
State law requires a public hearing be held to establish an Urban Renewal Plan with 30 days’ notice. It is anticipated that this hearing would be conducted on August 26, 2019.
DURA will be asking Council Committee to approve the resolution on consent at the July 9, 2019 meeting. A presentation to the Land Use, Transportation & Infrastructure Committee will be scheduled for July 30, 2019 ahead of the August 26th public hearing at City Council.
