A bill for an ordinance designating certain properties as being required for public use and authorizing use and acquisition thereof by negotiation or through condemnation proceedings of fee, easement and other interests, including any rights and interests related or appurtenant to properties as needed for the Iowa Underpass Project at Santa Fe Drive, spanning Jewell Avenue to Florida Avenue.
Grants the authority to acquire through negotiated purchase or condemnation any property interest as needed for the Iowa Underpass Project, including easement interests, access rights, improvements, buildings, fixtures, licenses, permits and other appurtenances, located approximately at Santa Fe Drive, spanning Jewell Avenue to Florida Avenue in Council District 7. The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 9-9-19. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 7-16-19.

The land acquisition is in preparation for planned improvement of the Iowa Underpass Project. The City and County of Denver will provide pedestrians and bicyclists with a safe, comfortable, intuitive connection underneath the railroad tracks heading east to the South Platte River Trail.
The fully funded project will remove the stairs to create an ADA accessible, separated path. This new ADA compliant facility will eliminate the gap along the D18 bike route providing increased safety, clearer wayfinding, and an improved user experience. The project will also include improved crossings at Santa Fe Drive and a new sidewalk offset from Santa Fe Drive, spanning Jewell Avenue to Florida Avenue.
Acquisitions will include 4 Temporary Easements (TE), Project is funded using City and Federal funds
