A bill for an ordinance amending the alcohol beverages and retail marijuana chapter of the Denver Revised Municipal Code to repeal language that is duplicative of state law and to allow adult patrons of the national western center to consume malt, vinous, or spirituous liquors within approved areas of the national western center.
Amends Chapter 6 of the Denver Revised Municipal Code (DRMC) to allow adult patrons of the National Western Center to consume malt, vinous, or spirituous liquors in approved areas within the National Western Center in Council District 9 in accordance with recent changes to state law. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 10-7-19.

This ordinance establishes a regulatory structure that creates an event-by-event approval system to allow for alcohol consumption in areas within the National Western Center. The ordinance defines how and where patrons may purchase and carry alcoholic beverages within the National Western Center. This will allow the National Western Center to operate in alignment with the community’s goals for the future by allowing multiple concessionaires to operate at the campus and give patrons the flexibility to move within a secured premise during the events such as the Stock Show, in addition to other future events.
