A resolution approving a proposed First Amendment between the City and County of Denver and Hensel Phelps Construction Co. concerning on-call construction services for the baggage handling system at Denver International Airport.
Amends a contract with Hensel Phelps Construction Co. by adding $48.1 million for a new total of $134.7 million and three months for a new end date of 12-31-22 to construct the on-call baggage handling system at Denver International Airport (202158004). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 4-12-21. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 3-10-21.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
This request is for a 1st amendment to the Hensel Phelps Construction On-Call Baggage Handling System (BHS) Enabling Project for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Relocation at Denver International Airport (DEN). The purpose of this amendment is to: 1) Add BHS functionality to the Main Terminal. Two oversized bag drop inputs will be added, one on the east side and one on the west side to the Level 6 Terminal as requested by the airlines. 2) Rectify outstanding Building and Fire Department code issues from the original construction in 1992-1995. 3) Cover the costs to complete the work caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Cost and fees associated with this amendment have been developed by a combination of engineers estimates and contractor cost proposals.
