Approves a contract with Wilson & Company, Inc. Engineers & Architects for $1,417,234 and through 7-31-23 to design a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge connecting Jewell Avenue over the railroad Consolidated Main Line (CML) and US 85 (South Santa Fe Drive) as part of the Elevate Denver Bond program in Council District 7 (202159138). Type and Scope of services to be performed:
Professional design services for the Complete Design of the preferred layout of a bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the railroad Consolidated Main Line (CML) [which includes the Regional Transportation District (RTD) Southwest light rail corridor] and S Santa Fe Drive (US 85) as identified in the Evans Station Bicycle and Pedestrian Connectivity Analysis (2012) and the Jewell Avenue Pedestrian Bridge Conceptual Alignment and Constraints Design Analysis Report (2019). The goal of this contract is to advance through final design and into construction support. The anticipated span over the railroad tracks and roadway is approximately 350 ft. Design related tasks include Project Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Data Collection and Analysis, 30%, 60%, 90% and 100% Design submittals, Engineer’s Opinion of Probable Cost, Bid and Construction Support, Independent Construction Cost Estimate and Constructability Assessment, and Evaluating connections to the new bridge. Key components to be considered include: structural analysis and design, partner agencies coordination and agreements, ADA analysis and design, civil design, maintenance of traffic, topographic and ROW survey, Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and utility coordination, environmental remediation, lighting design, stakeholder coordination, and ROW acquisition support.
