A resolution approving and providing for the execution of a proposed Grant Agreement between the City and County of Denver and the United States of America Department of Health and Human Services concerning the “Denver Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma (ReCAST)” program and the funding therefor.
Approves a grant agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for $1,000,000 and for one year to assist high-risk youth and families through implementation of violence prevention and community youth engagement programs, as well as linkages to trauma-informed behavioral health services, citywide (ENVHL-202159495). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 8-30-21. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 7-28-21.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
Acceptance of the first year of ReCAST (Resiliency in Communities Affected by Stress and Trauma) grant from the Department of Health and Human Services, SAMHSA (Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration). The purpose of the ReCAST Program is to assist high-risk youth and families and promote resilience and equity in communities that have recently faced civil unrest through implementation of evidence-based violence prevention, and community youth engagement programs, as well as linkages to trauma-informed behavioral health services. The goal of the ReCAST Program is for local community entities to work together in ways that lead to improved behavioral health, empowered community residents, reductions in trauma, and sustained community change.
