Type and Scope of services to be performed:

The Denver Sheriff Department’s Jail Based Behavioral Health Services (JBBS) substance use disorder program-- Recovery in a Secure Environment (RISE)--provides treatment and therapy individuals with substance use or co-occurring disorders who are in custody with the Denver Sheriff Department. Participants can be either sentenced or unsentenced with a goal of a minimum time to be served of thirty (30) days in the RISE Program. RISE is targeted to serve between 200 and 300 participants annually with continued service in the community.

 

The JBBS substance use disorder contract for the RISE Program underwent the competitive bid process for the City and County of Denver in February of 2020. Four proposals were received and a team of seven evaluation committee members were identified, six of whom completed the process. This committee included both jail-based staff and community members. At this time, Mile High Behavioral Healthcare was selected as the substance use disorder treatment provider for RISE.

 

The Denver Sheriff Department is requesting to extend the current contract term through June 30, 2022. Through this extension, Mile High Behavioral Healthcare (MHBHC) would continue to provide appropriate screening(s), assessment(s), brief intervention, and linkage to care in the community, based on an individualized treatment and/or transition plan. MHBHC shall utilize evidence-based screening processes and tools, subject to approval by the Office of Behavioral Health (OBH), to screen for mental health disorders, substance use disorders, trauma, and traumatic brain injuries.
