Amends a grant agreement with The GrowHaus by adding $444,851 for a new total of $919,851 and one year for a new end date of 7-31-22 to increase healthy food access, youth-focused education, and multi-generational programming at various locations and as funded by the city’s Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids initiative, citywide (ENVHL-202159389). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 10-18-21. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 9-15-21.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
The GrowHaus will lead consistent programming to increase healthy food access and support kids and families in developing long-term healthy habits through three synergetic programs: healthy food access, youth-focused education, and multi-generational programming. Food access programs provide a reliable source of culturally relevant food through the no cost grocery program and low cost food boxes. Youth education programs include year round and seasonal courses and workshops about nutrition, growing food, and wellness for elementary students and teens. Multi-generational programs include classes and family check-ins to support families on their wellness journey and to provide information about other community resources and government assistance programs.
