Executive Summary with Rationale and Impact:
Detailed description of the item and why we are doing it. This can be a separate attachment.
Ordinance Number 0083, Series of 2019, established the “Parks, Trails and Open Space” Special Revenue fund to administer the program approved by Denver voters in the 2018 election and supported by a 0.25 percentage point increase to the sales tax rate. Since the SRF’s establishment, the Department of Parks and Recreation has informally begun calling the SRF the “Parks Legacy” Fund. This bill request is an administrative action to change the name of the SRF to the “Parks Legacy” Fund to align it with actual practice.
Additionally, Ordinance No. 0687, Series of 2019, established three capital project funds in the Parks, Trails and Open Space Fund
Series. This bill request changes the name of the “Parks Debt Payments,” “Parks Citywide Projects” and “Parks Improvement
Projects” to “Parks Legacy Debt Payments,” “Parks Legacy Citywide Projects”, and “Parks Legacy Improvement Projects”,
respectively. This clarifies that all of these funds are specific to the Parks Legacy program. A companion ordinance will amend
Section 20-18 of the DRMC to change the name of the Parks, Trails and Open Space Fund Series in the Fund Plan to the “Parks
Legacy Fund Series.”
