Rescinds $111,100 from General Fund Contingency and authorizes appropriations of $36,100 in City Council’s General Fund operating budget to support the costs of redistricting and $75,000 for a cash transfer to the City Council Special Revenue Fund to support professional services contracts. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 2-22-22.

This bill request authorizes a supplemental appropriation of $36,100 in City Council to support the remaining costs associated with redistricting, which is required every ten years, following the census. Budget will be rescinded from the General Fund Contingency and re-appropriated to City Council’s General Fund operating budget.
City Council authorized a $74,000 supplemental appropriation in 2021 (CB21-0622) to enable funding for these outreach efforts and to purchase Maptitude software needed for the redistricting. The Maptitude software was purchased in 2021, however, due to delays in the Census, City Council was unable to conduct redistricting outreach efforts before the close of 2021 and those unspent dollars have lapsed into fund balance. City Council requires a $36,100 supplemental appropriation to carry out these outreach efforts in 2022.
Additionally, this request authorizes a supplemental appropriation of $75,000 to transfer cash from the General Fund to the City Council Special Revenue Fund, Accounting No. 11701 to support professional services contracts. Budget will be rescinded from the General Fund Contingency and re-appropriated to make a cash transfer from the General Fund to the City Council Services SRF. Denver City Council is creating processes for subsequent requests for professional services contracts to be a part of the annual budget process.
