Executive Summary with Rationale and Impact:

Detailed description of the item and why we are doing it. This can be a separate attachment.

The Elevate Denver Bond companion ordinance (CB17-0819) contains a list of project descriptions by purpose for the projects to be undertaken with proceeds of 2017 general obligation bond. During implementation of the Elevate Denver Bond program over the last five years, certain conditions have changed to necessitate a revision to project descriptions. This amendment is administrative in nature. The intent is to update the project name and does not affect the project scope of work officially authorized by voters. The requested amendments are as follows and may also incorporate administrative revisions and updates, as necessary.

In Purpose 4 for the funding of public safety facilities, revising the name of the 72nd and Tower Road Fire Station to state Denver Fire Station 40. This includes construction of a new fire station to serve northeast Denver. The originally proposed location at 72nd and Tower is no longer under consideration and alternative sites are being pursued that better addresses fire and emergency coverage in the area. Any new site will meet the intent of the original bond project to achieve desired response times in and around the Tower Road corridor, support continued development, and enhance public safety in the community.

In Purpose 5 for funding of library facilities, revising the Byers Branch Library Renovation to state John “Thunderbird Man” Emhoolah Jr Branch Library Renovation. The branch library name change was approved by the Library Commission in fall of 2021.

In Purpose 6 for funding of parks and recreation facilities, revising the Arkins Court River North Promenade to simply Arkins Promenade.
