Executive Summary with Rationale and Impact:

Detailed description of the item and why we are doing it. This can be a separate attachment.

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is requesting to establish a budget appropriation of $475,000 based off the intent to fund documentation from the funder which equates to 50 percent of the total forecasted award amount of $950,000. The Grant project period runs through 2029, but the award amounts are distributed annually. In order to expend funds to support training materials, as well as reimburse partners for training OT and backfill costs incurred in the current funding year, and immediately after the start of the new funding year, it is necessary to allow for immediate expenditures on the program, prior to receiving the official Notice of Grant Award, expected within weeks of the start of the new funding period.

The Denver Securing the Cities Program supports the development of radiological and nuclear detection and identification, to deter any criminal activity associated with it. Denver Securing the Cities program office supports this goal by training and equipping local response personnel on the use of radiological and nuclear detection equipment within different settings, and on proper reporting and engagement mechanisms.
