A resolution approving a proposed Amendatory Agreement between the City and County of Denver and The Colorado Museum of Natural History for the City Park Nature Play and DeBoer Waterway Restoration project in Council District 9.
Amends a funding and assignment agreement with the Colorado Museum of Natural History, doing business as the Denver Museum of Nature and Science (DMNS), by adding $950,000 for a new total of $3,950,000 to account for rising costs, with DMNS separately adding a matching amount and managing the contract for the City Park Nature Play and DeBoer Waterway Restoration project in Council District 9. No change to contract duration. (202056989 / 202263547). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 9-19-2022. Type and Scope of services to be performed:
DPR and DMNS are collaborating on project that will replace the small traditional playground in the SE quadrant of City Park with an immersive Nature Play Experience reflecting the native ecosystems of Colorado. The project will also include the restoration and upgrade of the Box Canyon Waterway and new play elements. Additional funds are needed to complete the project due to escalating costs. Both DPR and DMNS will contribute an additional $950,000.00. This amendment will provide DPR’s matching fund.
Scope of work:
DPR and DMNS are collaborating on project that will replace the small traditional playground in the SE quadrant of City Park with an immersive Nature Play Experience reflecting the eight native ecosystems of Colorado. The project will also include the restoration and upgrade of the DeBoer Waterway with a wetland filtration system and renewable energy supply. With this amendment, both DPR and DMNS will contribute $3,950,000 to the project for a total project budget of $7,900,000.
