Approves an intergovernmental agreement with the Trustees of the Colorado Firefighter Heart and Cancer Benefits Trust for $560,000 and through 12-31-2026 to allow Denver Firefighters to join the Voluntary Cancer Benefits Award Program, in place of the City's self-insured and self-administered Workers' Compensation program (FINAN-202160002). The City and County of Denver is seeking to join the Colorado Firefighters Cancer Trust's Voluntary Cancer Benefits Award Program (VCAP), as established by the State of Colorado Senate Bill 17-214. This allows Denver Firefighters who are diagnosed with cancer that falls under the State's Firefighters Cancer Workers' Compensation presumption (HB 07-1008) to be provided benefits from the Trust's VCAP program in place of the City's self-insured and self-administered Workers' Compensation program.
