A resolution for approving a proposed Second Amendatory Agreement between the City and County of Denver and Mental Health Center of Denver to continue providing 24/7 coverage for the Denver Police Department Co-responder program in areas of highest need, and expanding the program by adding 3 additional clinicians who will be placed with the Denver Fire Department and Denver Park Rangers, as funded by a grant from Caring for Denver.
Amends a contract with Mental Health Center of Denver (MHCD), doing business as WellPower, by adding $2,172,109 for a new contract total of $3,923,189 and 14 months for a new end date of 10-31-2023 to continue providing 24/7 coverage for the Denver Police Department Co-responder program in areas of highest need, and expanding the program by adding 3 additional clinicians who will be placed with the Denver Fire Department and Denver Park Rangers, as funded by a grant from Caring for Denver (POLIC-202262299-00/ 202264537). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 10-3-2022. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 8-31-2022.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
Mental Health Center of Denver, d/b/a/ Wellpower, will continue to provide co-responder services for 24/7 coverage of the Crisis Intervention Response Unit (CIRU). Changes include an updated scope, additional funding for three additional clinicians and an increased contract duration.
The Denver Police Department was awarded funding from Caring for Denver to continue its 24/7 coverage and expand its successful co-responder program. This amendment increases the funding and duration of the program with Mental Health Center of Denver, d/b/a/ Wellpower, that pairs mental health clinicians with police officers and focuses on responding to calls for service involving individuals with suspected or known mental health needs. This year, three additional clinicians will be placed with the Fire Department and Park Rangers.
