A resolution approving a proposed Amendatory Agreement between the City and County of Denver and Sewall Child Development Center, Inc. to expand their Culture of Wellness Program.
Amends a grant agreement with Sewall Child Development Center, Inc. by adding $428,203.61 for a new total of $713,593.61 and one year for a new end date of 7-31-2023, through funding from the Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids Initiative, to expand their Culture of Wellness Program, which provides family educational activities such as food budgeting, meal planning and gardening at 940 Fillmore Street in Council District 10 (ENVHL- 202159244-00/ ENVHL-202264107). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 11-28-2022. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 9-21-2022.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
Sewall Child Development Center, Inc. provides healthy breakfast, lunch and snack to children on and offsite. This funding will also allow Sewall to provide monthly family meetings on site to expand their Culture of Wellness program. Educational activities will be incorporated into both Sewall’s locations based on their cultures and community reach with food access and educational activities. Educational activities and classes may include topics such as Gardening, Farm to Table, Nutritional Meal Planning and Shopping, Food Budgeting to Ensure Healthy Items that are often More Expensive can be Included on Your List and Including Children When Cooking.
