A bill for an ordinance approving a proposed Amendatory Agreement between the City and County of Denver and State of Colorado Department of Human Services, Division of Youth Services, for a cost-of-living adjustment for detention screening and pre-trial release services for youth in the 2nd Judicial District.
Amends an intergovernmental agreement with the State of Colorado Department of Human Services, Division of Youth Services by adding $33,612 for a new total of $1,633,190.17 for a cost-of-living adjustment for detention screening and pre-trial release services for youth in the 2nd Judicial District. No change to agreement duration (SAFTY-202264956-01/ 202263432). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 12-5-2022. Type and Scope of services to be performed:
Denver Public Safety Youth Programs was awarded the Colorado Youth Detention Continuum grant to perform detention screening and pre-trial release services for youth in the 2nd Judicial District. This is a five-year grant which renews annually, and this request is to increase funding for the 2023 fiscal year. The additional funding comes from a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) fund provided by the state. For the 2nd JD, COLA funds are used to increase services such as therapeutic support, trauma focused behavioral health, and family therapy for youth referred to Pretrial. The 2nd Judicial District Juvenile Services Planning Committee serves as the advisory body for the program and has approved the extension of the original contract to a sixth year.
