Type and Scope of services to be performed:
To provide job related training, career coaching, and navigation in the professional and financial services industries through Mi Casa Resource Center’s (MCRC) Career Pathways Program for 212 individuals who have been adversely and disproportionately affected by COVID-19. The programming will create a pathway to the Banking Essentials Certificate through the Community College of Aurora. The Career Pathways Program will offer job related technical skills training, and employment placement support.
Executive Summary
Within Denver Economic Development & Opportunity (DEDO), Denver Workforce Services (DWS) is committed to increasing worker skills through reskilling, upskilling, and next-skilling opportunities that lead to industry-recognized credentials thus helping to contribute to a skilled Colorado talent development pipeline in high demand and growth driven industries. With this goal in mind, Mi Casa Resource Center (MCRC) was one of nine (9) vendors selected through a Coronavirus Relief RFP released in 2021. The funding source for this contract is State of Colorado’s American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) provided to local workforce areas to support participants who have been economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and to build in-demand skills, connect workers and learners to quality jobs, and drive employer engagement.
The original terms of this contract were $325,000 to serve 303 individuals who have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic, with a period of performance from 9/1/21 - 8/31/22. Services to be provided included training in the professional and financial services industry through MCRC’s Career Pathways Program with a pathway to the Banking Essentials Certificate through the Community College of Aurora. This proposed amendment will add $243,000 to the contract, adjust for changes in program delivery, and reduce the numbers of individuals served to 212. With an adjusted service delivery model and more realistic budget, MCRC will be more successful in serving Denver residents and in moving them along the path of self-sustainability.

About Mi Casa Resource Center’s Career Pathway’s programs:
The MCRC Career Pathways programs creates pathways to opportunity by offering technical skills training, coaching, navigation, and employment placement support. MCRC also partners with Spring Institute to conduct digital literacy skills, high school equivalency, and English as a Second Language.
Career Pathways offers a holistic approach to address the personal and professional needs of low-income youth and adults. MCRC’s services are offered in the Westwood Community however trainings are offered virtually, and all other services are offered in a hybrid model (in person and virtually). MCRC offers the following services for Denver residents:
• Navigation -Navigators connect jobseekers to basic needs supports - food, health, housing, legal, etc.
• Career Coaching - Bilingual Coaches provide 1:1 support for job searching, digital literacy, and communication.
• Career Skills - Career Skills, embedded throughout MCRC’s model, builds foundational career and soft skills like interviewing, job searching, and resume writing.
• Training - MCRC offers two blended learning training programs: Specialized Skills Training and Financial Services.
• Postsecondary Attainment - During the Financial Services Training, students and adults can take Prior Learning Assessments (PLAs) to jumpstart their path to higher education. Program graduates earn up to nine college credits at CCA and MSU Denver through PLAs. These credits stack into marketable banking credentials.
• Law and Legal Services- MCRC conducts monthly legal clinics to connect participants with volunteer attorneys.
• The Spring Institute offers English as a Second Language (ESL), Digital Skills, and Adult Basic Education (ABE) in a hybrid model onsite in Westwood and virtually.
