As required by the Colorado Revised Statutes (CRS), this request seeks City Council approval to extend the disaster declaration first issued by Mayor Michael B. Hancock on December 15, 2022 and currently running through December 21, 2022 for an additional period through January 17, 2023, as related to sheltering of migrants and asylum seekers. Under CRS ?24-33.5-709(1), the effect of the period of local disaster cannot exceed seven days except by or with the approval of City Council.
