Amends a contract with CoreCivic, Inc. by adding $2,500,000 for a new total of $7,500,000 and one year for a new end date of 6-30-2024 to continue providing residential and non-residential reentry services to individuals returning from incarceration, while other placement options are pursued, citywide (SAFTY-202158407-00/ SAFTY-202366340-01). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 4-10-2023. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 3-8-2023.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
This amendment is to extend the agreement with Corecivic to provide residential and non-residential services through June 2024. The extension is necessary given the significant reduction of placement capacity that has occurred over the past 4 years. There are currently more than 200 individuals that remain incarcerated in the Denver jail and state prison system who have been approved for residential services, and are awaiting an open bed. This number will only increase without this extension further restricting access to those seeking residential reentry services while the Department of Safety continues to develop and pursue other placement options.
